Koren Reyes selected Featured Photographer by Crane & Co.POWNAL, VERMONT August 14, 2009 Lifestyle News
(PRLEAP.COM) Koren Reyes, a New York City-based commercial photographer, has been selected as a Featured Photographer by Crane & Co., Inc. of Dalton, Mass. Reyes is only the third photographer to be selected by Crane to have her work showcased at the website for Crane’s Museo Digital Art Papers www.crane.com/museo.
“I am thrilled that my art is being recognized by an American icon like Crane,” said Reyes, “especially since this is an incredibly competitive industry. It’s validation for a lot of hard work.”
Reyes began her photographic career five years ago, following a 12-year stint on Wall Street. With the financial fallout from 9/11, she found herself without a job and in need of new direction. The answer came after several photography courses on Nantucket Island in Massachusetts and at the renowned Rocky Mountain School of Photography.
“It was if all of a sudden a flash bulb went off in my head after seeing the images from my camera come to life on paper,” said Reyes. “I knew I could do this, and now my life is completely filled with photography.”
In addition to her commercial work, Reyes has developed several specialties to differentiate her talents. Her most distinctive work centers around women, especially maternity photography and newborn babies and their families. Reyes has developed several attractive packages for her maternity photography which can be seen at www.maternitybykoren.com. The ultimate experience includes an unlimited portrait session in a glorious, multi-room professional studio lined with windows and brick walls, a killer sound system, and makeup by a professional image artist.
“These packages have become a very popular baby shower gift,” said Reyes. “It’s a very special time for a woman; a time of special beauty. To preserve that time in a woman’s life makes a wonderful gift from friends and family.”
Reyes uses Crane’s Museo Digital Fine Art Papers exclusively for her clients. Museo papers are made from 100 percent cotton, are internally buffered to prevent damage from acidification, and contain none of the optical brighteners known to deteriorate over time. Crane papers are tree-free, being made from 100 percent recovered cotton fibers, making them an environmentally responsible choice in addition to their superior quality.
Reyes offers her photographic services in New York City and Nantucket. She is descended from the famous maker of Nantucket Lightship Baskets Jose Formoso Reyes, and worked in the family basket shop for many summers. Baskets made by the Reyes family are routinely sold for several thousand dollars today, and are prized for their craftsmanship.
